How to access ViewModel class member variable while executing a WebService call

I am developing an Android app to receive SMS through WebService and I am using C# as my service tier.

How can I access my ViewModel class member variable, when invoking a WebService?

WebService.Client client = new WebService.Client(url, "name", "password");

.....//

client.LoginAsync("username", "password");

My service class implements ILoginAsyncCallback but I don't know how to access the ViewModel when the method is being called.

ViewModel is a class that stores data across the life of the app. It makes sense to put this kind of thing in a class for reuse because the model changes or the view needs to access it.

The ViewModel is a singleton, so if you make an instance somewhere in your app and reference that, you're referencing the same instance. If that's what you want to do, fine. If you want multiple instances, you make it a class itself and you can use an instance of the ViewModel class anywhere you want to.

However, it's likely you want a different instance of the ViewModel per view or per widget in that view, so you have the data per view (or per widget), not across the whole app. You can do this by making a ViewModel that holds the data, and using dependency injection (DI) to make a new instance of the ViewModel per each view that needs data.

The DI doesn't have to be a full DI framework (i.e. "IoC") but it's a nice UI pattern to use, so I'd recommend it.

I use SimpleInjector as a DI framework (look it up), but there are others, like Unity, Ninject, and Moq.
